Project Overview

One La Jolla Center is a 15 story LEED Gold business building that completes the La Jolla Center “superblock”. The building offers 360 degree views from all floors, an onsite café, smart car charging stations and an outside landscaped workspace.

The outside workspace connects the building and an adjacent multilevel parking structure. In this area 30′ palms were secured, over structure, using the Platipus Deadman 4 Leg System with stainless steel tendon for permanent anchoring. The system removed the need for any above ground hazards (wood bracing) providing safety and stability while offering an instant “finished” appearance.

Project Overview

Navy Pier is one of the Midwest’s most visited sites and is one of Chicago’s top tourist attractions. The pier boasts shopping and dining options along with a botanical garden, a ferris wheel and many seasonal activities. Restricted space, extreme wind gusts off Lake Michigan and high pedestrian traffic made subsurface tree anchoring a necessity.

To alleviate stability and safety concerns on the pier, 100 Marmo Maples were secured using the Platipus Deadman Rootball Fixing System. The system provided a fast and efficient method of securing the trees, by their rootballs, in an urban environment resulting in the safe and natural appearance desired by the project owner.

Project Overview

Spanning 1.45 miles along the Lower West Side of Manhattan, the High Line was originally constructed in the 1930s as part of the New York Central Railroad. The three story railroad has now been repurposed as a public open space that attracts nearly five million visitors annually. The parks’ innovative design converted an industrial trestle of steel and concrete into a green roof that twists and turns its way through the city. The transformation of the park only allowed for a few feet of soil above the concrete and waterproofing layer installed over the existing deck. Platipus Tree Anchoring Systems, including concrete deadman sleepers and engineered soil, were used to stabilize the trees over the green roof.

Project Overview

Located in the heart of downtown Dallas, the Klyde Warren Park is a combination of a green roof, bridge and tunnel positioned on top of the Woodall Rodgers Freeway. In order to support a deck over the 200 foot wide freeway, this unique greenspace was constructed using geo-foam and engineered lightweight soil. By designing the deck with trenches formed between the structural beams, trees were given room to grow and only required temporary stabilization for the initial planting period.

Platipus Tree Anchoring Systems provided the needed support and eliminated tree staking allowing for a safe and sustainable landscape.
